Cat Behaviors

Handle In Kennel Only (HIKO)

Does better in its kennel and may become agitated if taken out of its kennel. Please only interact with the animal in its kennel.

line

Door Dasher (DD)

May try to exit the kennel the moment you open the kennel door. May push nose into the door and try to force it open. May not wait for you to secure them and could escape.

line

Over Stimulation (OS)

May get easily overwhelmed with your touch. It is important to stop handling the animal at the first indication of warning signs (e.g. eyes dilated, ears back, tail flick, and low growl). May at first allow you to pet or hold. Once overstimulated will be less likely to tolerate your affection.

line

Shy (SHY)

May be timid and will need extra time gaining confidence to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

line

Sensitive to Barriers (STB)

While standing at a kennel wall, door or any other form of barrier, this animal may be reactive (e.g. ears back, growling) if they hear or see another animal.

line

Hard to Re-Kennel (H2RK)

When trying to place this animal back into its kennel he/she may become difficult to handle and resist going back into the kennel.
