Animal Information Board Training

Welcome to the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services volunteer training page!

DAS appreciates the over 114,000 hours that our volunteers donate to the regional shelters per year. We look forward to using consistent terminology across all three shelters for animal behaviors and enrichment activities.

Our DAS team members enjoyed creating a series of videos to help demonstrate each term.

Please notice that the videos are organized by dog, cat and rabbit. Then within each section, you can view the behavior or enrichment activity at your convenience.

Thank you for viewing all the behavior and enrichment videos for your volunteer role (e.g. dog or cat or rabbit) before attending your scheduled class on the animal information boards. This ensures we all start class with the same understanding of what each term means.

As soon as you complete the self-assessment for your role and send it to Rosie, you will receive the dates for the classes at your shelter. We know you will finish watching the videos as soon as possible. See you in class…☺
